Outpatient Physical Therapy

In a hospital setting, Physical and Occupational Therapists are key members of the healthcare team, specially trained to improve movement and function, relieve pain and expand a patient’s movement potential. Through evaluation and individualized treatment programs, therapists can treat existing problems and provide preventive healthcare for people with a variety of needs.

Commonly treated diagnoses include:

  • Total joint replacements
  • Injuries to the back and neck
  • Conditions related to degenerative diseases
  • Fractures
  • Stroke related weakness
  • Cardiopulmonary impairment
  • Lymphedema
  • Wound Care
  • Postoperative rehabilitation
  • Vestibular rehabilitation
  • Pediatric therapy services

To receive outpatient therapy services, a written referral from your physician is required. Once a referral is received, a licensed physical or registered occupational therapist will evaluate your needs and set up an individual treatment targeting your specific goals. Therapy may include exercise to increase strength, endurance, coordination or range of motion. Modalities such as heat, ice, dry needling, ultrasound or electrical stimulation are used to help relieve pain, muscle spasm or swelling and to promote healing.

Baptist Health is pleased to offer therapists who are certified in a variety of manual therapy techniques which reduce pain, promote healing and enhance functional mobility.
