Our History

Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center was established in 1950 as an outpatient clinic in Lawrence, Kansas. Today, we serve over 10,000 clients each year in Douglas County and the surrounding areas.

We are named after Albert "Bert" Nash, a Civil War veteran who was committed to the Kansas State Hospital for the Insane in 1905. After his release, he became a successful businessman and advocate for mental health services in Kansas.

How to Access Our Services

To access our services, individuals can call our main office or walk in during business hours. We also offer virtual services for those who are unable to come in person. We accept most insurance plans and offer a sliding fee scale for those who are uninsured or underinsured.
