Street dogg sanjay and craig

We’ve seen Snoop Dogg in some pretty animated situations. But perhaps none top his turn as long-limbed, smooth-talking, bike-riding rapper Street Dogg in his guest role on an upcoming episode of Nickelodeon’s animated series Sanjay & Craig.

In the episode, which premieres May 17 at 7:30 p.m., rap icon Street Dogg moves next door to the 12-year-old protagonist and his pet snake. He’s come to suburbia to escape the bright lights of L.A. and make some new music — and his alter-ego Snoop busts out some G-rated jams on the new song “On Our Block,” where his lyrics include: “This place feels like a nice change of pace/ See on my block it’s all about cars and gold chains.”

“Snoop learned the material on the spot — and blew our minds,” says show creator Jim Dirschberger. “He owned the material and expanded on dialog and musical numbers. He’s an excellent actor with a great sense of humor. Best of all, he is a kid at heart.” Check out Billboard‘s exclusive sneak peek here:

Nickelodeon isn’t the first TV stop for the rapper. In March, Snoop guested as himself on the season 1 finale of Fox’s Empire, where he performed new single “Peaches and Cream,” and he’s been vocal about returning for another stint on the show.

The rapper will guest star on the Nickelodeon series “Sanjay and Craig” in what promises to be its “chillest, illest, slickest,” episode yet.

The rap icon, aka “Street Dogg,” becomes Sanjay and Craig’s neighbor during the special half-hour premiere, airing Sunday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. EST/PST on Nickelodeon. And of course, he couldn’t move in without dropping the “cool, funky, fresh flow” on a brand new verse he created just for the show.

In the episode, Snoop moves to Sanjay and Craig’s town to escape the hustle and bustle of LA life. However, when 12-year-old Sanjay and his best friend Craig (a smooth-talking snake) realize that he was part of the rap duo “Remington Tufflips,” the boys’ idols, they set out on a mission to form a reunion. This takes them on quite an adventure and ends with “the mother of all rap battles!”

Music sensation Snoop Dogg guest stars as Street Dogg, a rap icon who moves in next door to Sanjay and Craig in a special half-hour episode of Nick’s Emmy nominated Sanjay and Craig airing May 17.

Titled “Street Dogg,” the episode airs at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT and features Street Dogg as a cool, funny, friendly guy who is always eager to rhyme with the kids. He’s come to town to escape the bright lights of Los Angeles, chill out, make some new music and live a quiet suburban life. During the special, Sanjay and Craig discover that Street Dogg was once part of a rap duo with none other than Remington Tufflips, the boys’ action-movie idol.  They set out to reunite the former pair, but their failed efforts only lead to a town divided — and the mother of all rap battles.
