This item govrs no flexibility on where to place electrodes for stimulating the injured muscles. TENS machines give the option to place the electrodes on the muscles that need stimulating. This machine simply lays where ever it happens to fit on your neck, if those are not the right muscles this is useless and in my case caused more damage. I went from medium pain from a stiff neck to being unable to move even my facial muscles without being in excruciating pain after just one use with this. I set it for 20 minutes but eneded up stopping part way through because the pain was so severe. With a TENS system that has movable pads at least you can stimulate the muscles that you want treated, with this it is just the luck of the draw if the pads fall on the correct spot when you put it atound your neck. I was advised by my doctor not to use this again. Sace your money, get a TENS machine instead. The gimick is just that a gimick. Returning for refund and still in treatment for my significantly worsened neck
